National Quality Framework Launch

The announcement of a new ‘National Quality Framework’ came on Wednesday (April 19) at the launch by the Minister for Mental Health, Mary Butler, of the Mental Health Commissions (MHC’s) new strategic plan, entitled ‘Supporting Change’, which is applicable for the years 2023 to 2027.

The new National Quality Framework sets out the themes, standards and associated criteria considered essential for driving high standards and supporting continuous improvement, while emphasising a recovery-oriented and rights-based approach to service provision. It is the result of an extensive consultation process; evidence review; and a review of quality frameworks in other countries.

In a unique and innovative move, the MHC have partnered with a quality management software provider to digitise and launch a self assessment tool. ViClarity worked alongside the MHC to define requirements and build the themes, standards and associated criteria into an easy-to-use software system, allowing service providers to easily carry out self assessments, identifying any gaps in compliance requirements.
