CQC Care Directory Update - February 2023

On March 1st 2023, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published the latest update to their Care Directory. The latest version of the directory includes over 24,000 social care providers. A breakdown complied by The Outstanding Society found that although the number of 'Outstanding' providers dropped by 5 it is good to see an increase of 102 providers rated as 'Good'. However, it was noted that over 4000 locations are rated as either 'Requires Improvement' or 'Inadequate'. 

Outstanding Rating

1,064 locations were rated as 'Outstanding', which is a 4.40% of all locations. These locations are currently performing exceptionally well.

Good Rating

19,020 were classified as 'Good'. This means these locations are performing well and meeting CQC expectations.

Requires Improvement Rating

15.88% of all locations (3,836 organisations) have been notified by the CQC that their servicerequires improvement. 

Inadequate Rating

In February, 327 locations were not preforming at the required standard. These organisations must now take required actions and improve the service in order to comply with the CQC's regulatory requirements. 

Insufficient Evidence Rating

This figure remains the same in February 2023, as the CQC classified 15 locations as insufficient evidence to rate.
